Lead Product Designer at LifeStance Health

I design internal tools that move the numbers — and the people behind them.

Seven years inside healthcare operations. I work on the unglamorous systems that decide whether a patient gets booked, whether a claim gets paid, whether a clinician’s day makes sense — and I measure what changes when the design gets out of the way.

Selected Work

Five projects that paid their own way.

Live Data

Two explorations, live.

Two data projects I built on the side — one tracking the war on Gaza, one on the concentration of American wealth. Both grew directly out of the books I’ve been reading, and both are live.

Experience

Seven years inside healthcare operations.

Most of my work is internal tools — the software that call-center agents, clinicians, claims adjusters, and billing teams stare at for eight hours a day. It’s where small friction compounds into millions of dollars and thousands of bad appointments.

Design across the 33-state footprint

  • Enabled the national rollout of an internal booking tool by removing operational bottlenecks and aligning cross-functional priorities. $500K annual savings; $15–25M in unlocked revenue capacity.
  • Modeled a 9–11× ROI from the current design team, plus a scoped 40–100× upside through targeted hires — used by the new CTO for resource planning.
  • Led strategy and design for a patient–provider routing system; turned an ambiguous funnel into a measurable framework for conversion, capacity, and intent.
  • Influenced leadership to treat design as a revenue lever, not a cost center.

Unblocking the admin booking tool

  • Shipped the streamlined admin booking tool — cut average call time by 15 seconds, $250K/year in labor.
  • Directed design across internal tools in 33 states; spent a year as acting Product Owner (backlog, stories, sprints).
  • Surfaced cross-functional inefficiencies through research and proposed system-level fixes that seeded new initiatives.

Hello

Design & operations, in close contact.

I’m Cody. I grew up in Los Angeles, spent a decade in the Bay Area, two years in New York, and I’m now in Franklin, Tennessee — headed to Chicago in 2027. I studied illustration at California College of the Arts and spent a few years in operations at Postmates and Twitter before moving fully into product design.

What I care about: the systems behind the screens, the financial case for design, and the small act of paying attention to the person on the other end of a workflow.

I also keep a reader’s atlas — a separate site about the books and the data around them.
