Hi, I’m Cody Heart — a lead product designer
living in Chicago, IL, building tools at LifeStance Health.
Strategy is where I do my best work. I’ve spent more than five years improving LifeStance’s internal tools, following three years rebuilding claims and billing workflows at Collective Health.
I’m proudest of work that makes a measurable difference to the business. It starts with sitting alongside the people doing the work, understanding what gets in their way, and figuring out what’s worth fixing. More about me →
Tool Consolidation
Intake coordinators matched patients across 50+ regional tools on live calls. I designed the tool that replaced them, owned its pilot and rollout, and turned the tool inventory into a consolidation plan.
Care Matching
Care Matching rebuilt how patients were matched with clinicians, by phone and online. I translated clinical policy into matching rules coordinators could explain on a live call. Rematches fell by about a third.
At Collective Health (2018–2021), I worked on two internal systems. It’s the same way I work now: sit with the people doing the work, measure the time, and ship the fix.
Claims
As primary product designer, I designed the claims system Collective Health built to bring claims processing in-house, and the tools its team used to work claims every day.
Self-billing
Over about eight months as product designer, I replaced the payments team’s spreadsheet billing rules with a billing-policy builder that followed how they already thought about the work.
These are older projects, so I haven’t written them up as case studies. Happy to walk through either one →
